Gradually and constantly we are draw into a virtual space provided by virtual devices, logged on to a virtual society (Social media), what ever happened to communal living ? Does 21st century technology connect us more or isolate us further? Many questions beg answers one of which bothers on regulation, who is policing the virtual space?
The new obsession in town, an addiction on its own, self inflicted, contagions and respects no race, that is the crave for virtuality, virtual money, virtual networking (Social media),..... just to mention a few. 24 hours a day, how much time do we spend with the real world.
By going virtual I mean a world, created, I mean indulgence in like it tweet it post it, follow us, all leading where? More like keeping up with the joneses. Being real, now I mean spontaneous, I mean embarrassing the sweet and bitter challenges that only reality can provide, Swimming in an ocean of feeling each others pulse as to the lols, and the wtf that virtual interaction provides
How many hours a day does the owner of twitter spend online, ever wondered? If
Bill Gate was always on face book Microsoft wouldn't have come to life, If Mark.
z didn’t focus on his project, FB would be in existence only as a mirage. The dope of the 21st century, how addicted are we to these.
Are we constantly connected or constantly distracted?
Virtuality, for lack of a better word, is now the norm rather than the alternative. Those who are far are kept close, as those who are close by are kept far thanks to our new found connectivity. We
replace real communication by flat text, that convey no real human feelings ,it more of creating impression as to just been yourself. When last
did you check up on your facebook? First thing this morning, some few minutes ago….
The need to interact in ways other than social mediating (on
the internet),can never bee over emphasized as the need to feel each other’s pulse, hear the tone behind each
word spoken, is one in which social media connection can not replace,
The warmth from hugs or has any replaced a pat on the back or the welcome from an hand shake, We are beings, not programmed robots even though a few would believe they are,
The warmth from hugs or has any replaced a pat on the back or the welcome from an hand shake, We are beings, not programmed robots even though a few would believe they are,
Research shows that physical contacts reduces human anxiety, ever wondered why everyone is so anxious these days, been programmed by the various beeps on devices to twitch each time we hear them.
How long can we sustain these habits?
Are you using the social media or is the social media.........
For Instance:
What you are
going through in life at the moment can
be detected by what you click on Pin interest. Your preferences can be put
together by what you follow on twitter, Leaving facebook aside your personal
profile can be built from your Google
account maybe we should be looking at not including the word PRIVACY in the next dictionary
update.
Before now we where more empathic, less distracted more productive than we presently are.
Moderation is key
Is your close friend a mobile phone?, really then how come
you are reading this article on it. What do we present on Facebook? an ideal
life, Ideal relationship, but truly on the background we all struggle to keep
our heads above water.
Yes, Putting up real life situation does not get lots of
likes (but is that what we want our lives to be about). Have you found the
satisfaction you need from the virtual world so far.
PUTTING IT RIGHT
This is not to rule it out completely, it is to put a check on the increasing dependence on the virtual world at the expense of neglecting the real real world.
The real world is real, virtual should be used in moderation
(Entertainment) not to stand the place of what is real.
Lets Power down our
devices for a while, respecting the presence of those around and have real interaction with immediate family
and friends. Putting the virtual world on hold for the real world not the other way around.
The
virtuality is this, reality ceases to exist with virtuality in place, the
reality is this virtuality is here with us what we do with it determines our
reality not the reality. The responsibilities lies on individuals to
choose to be really virtual or if we are better off virtually real.

nice piece
Virtuality or reality is a matter of choice not confernment and many in the bid to keep up with the joneses like you mentioned choose and get conferred with the obvious, virtuality.
Prince Ea has a similar campaign https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dRl8EIhrQjQ
I love this piece.
Thank you, The video completes this piece, all said well....... Crazy Plague!!!
I didn't see a mention on Zee world, Terrible as it seems, I am grateful I didn't grow up around the kind of technology available now, many wouldn't understand this stand, I cherish the way we lived back then, when we where less distracted by so much tech a life style I cant trade even for the greatest advantage technology offers..... Call me Old Schooled.
Really old school, don't agree totally,no mention on how it has mae life easy. it all boils down to responsible use of technology.
